After spending many years as a Buyer for first Neiman Marcus, and finally Williams Sonoma, founder Shelley Dodd was searching for a career change when her personal life landed her back on the east coast. A new wife and mother, she decided to study Interior Design at Fairfield University. While earning her professional degree, she and her husband purchased a new home that needed extensive remodeling; perfect timing to use her newly minted design skills to take on a full home addition and renovation enlisting the help of an architect, general contractor as well as several tradespeople. Thus began the beginning of her on-the-job training to hone her design skills.

After completing this renovation, she paused to raise her three children. While grooming them for independence, Shelley found the perfect time to focus on her career aspirations when in 2018, she decided to officially open her own business, Mews Designs. With a love for mixing tone and texture, Shelley is known for her modern yet traditional aesthetic as well as searching out vintage pieces whenever the design allows.
